Personal Description:
My name is Noah and I am a final year Mechanical Engineering Student in Cardiff. I am a huge fan of sports, music and anything where food is involved! I have been singing playing instruments my whole life and I absolutely love it!
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught many mathematics classes in two very different primary schools. One was in a poor rural village in Fiji and the other in a very posh private school in New York. I have lots of previous tutoring experience as well and I am currently a maths and physics tutor for the governments recognised tutor programme MyTutor. I recently applied for PGCE maths courses and I am hoping to start in the next academic year.
I have current piano students ranging from ages 7 to 70 and I also have some music theory students. I have led and been in multiple community choirs and I am a member of 4 professional church choirs singing tenor. I have an 11 year old brother and I am his piano and music theory tutor. He recently passed his Grade 5 piano with a Merit and his Grade 5 theory with Distinction.
Tutoring Approach:
Practice - Regardless of wether it is an instrument, theory or singing my aim is to make practice and learning enjoyable so you want to practice!
Technique - A vital part of all instrument practice so I try and incorporate this into lessons and make sure we’re not practicing in bad habits
Musicianship - This is what truly makes musician. Learning about composers and history can be both interesting and informative and it makes the difference between just playing notes and playing music. For some this is more natural than for others so don’t be disheartened, I’m sure we can work on it together!
Aural - Developing and training your ears is something that is hugely under appreciated. Being able to read music is an important skill, however in my opinion, no more important than using your natural receptors so I look forward to testing them out!
