Personal Description:
Nathalie started the violin at an early age which lead on to her playing and studying both the violin and piano for over 20 years at a professional level.
Having experienced playing in various orchestras and chamber groups such as The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and Pro corda, this lead to the opportunities of performing on TV in Blue Peter, at The Royal Albert Hall on several occasions and taking part in many orchestral tours around Europe. Nathalie has also enjoyed the experience of playing in the ‘pit’ for musicals and opera’s.
After finishing her studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London at the age of 18, she then went on to study a 4 year BMus Hons degree at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. As well as a performance degree, Nathalie also attained an LRSM, Teaching Diploma, alongside her degree.
Since leaving music college, Nathalie has been very busy teaching violin, viola and piano in and around schools in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, playing in her string quartet, Fantasia Strings for weddings and events.
Furthermore, Nathalie has coached youth orchestras (Marlow) as the string professor and has enjoyed being part of the band, A Genuine Freakshow, for the last couple of years playing the violin and singing.
Recently, Nathalie has taken teaching music to the classroom in secondary schools after completing a GTP teaching qualification, at Wycombe High School in July 2010. Nathalie is currently teaching Violin and Viola at Wycombe Abbey and Piano at Dr Challoners’ High School.
Tutoring Experience:
Friendly and experienced professional with over 16 years of teaching experience in Independent and Grammar schools in and around Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire. I teach private pupils who either wish to learn to play the violin just for fun, or want to do grades and competitions.
I teach pupils who take part and are competition winners in local festivals and have been accepted to join The National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain (NCO).
I have vast experience of being the leader of different orchestras and have my own string quartet called Fantasia Strings that plays at weddings,corporate/charity events etc.
I am available to coach string quartets and orchestras. As I am also a qualified secondary school teacher, I teach GCSE and A Level Music of both OCR and EDEXCEL exam boards.
100% exam pass rate with my pupils.
DBS certified. (CRB police check)
Trial lessons available on request.
Tutoring Approach:
Depending on the age/ability of the individual,I teach mainly the Shiela Nelson method which involves developing note reading, aural skills, theory and sight reading, giving a good all round foundation of knowledge.
I teach in a way pupils learn and experience all different styles such as classical, Jazz, Blues and Pop. This broadens their learning and knowledge of music as a whole.
