Information About Amelia - Stirling teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Amelia:
Hi there! I'm a secondary school music teacher with a real passion for providing students with the best opportunities to push their musical development and artistic identity. I've grown up with an appreciation for music and began playing piano at the age of 11; through the inclusion of musical ensembles at school, performance and learning opportunities, I quickly came to realise I wanted to pursue a career in music education.
Through my training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I have developed my own skills in performance, education, composition, music technology and musicianship, and continue to develop these skills to benefit myself and the learning experience of my pupils. This year, I've worked towards gaining my full registration as a teacher, continuing to aim to inspire the next generation of musicians and provide the best education possible to help them reach their potential.
In terms of interests, I love music and am excited to be living so close to a hub of culture where everything is so accessible. Having originally come from the island of Islay, I have a real appreciation for the outdoors and love the fact that Edinburgh is a hub to travel to and from areas in Scotland. I also like to keep myself fit through swimming, weightlifting and running.
I have worked in the private tuition industry for over 5 years, and have taught both independently and as part of a music school. I've wielded excellent results throughout, including a 100% distinction rate with all of my ABRSM pupils and 100% A pass rate for private SQA tuition.
As a part of my BEd degree, I have been gaining experience secondary school classroom setting since 2016 in a variety of different local authorities: this has allowed me to develop my own teaching values and work in many successful music departments. In addition, I'm now fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland in secondary school music education following a successful probation year, and now teach with Edinburgh City Council in a local high school.
I strongly believe in developing the whole musician when I teach, aligning my approach to tuition with the student's needs and ambitions. I aim to develop students' note-reading ability, musicianship skills and technique in order to make sure pupils reach their potential as a performer. I work hard to ensure that each pupil has a tuition plan tapered to their needs and ambitions, and use the best resources to support a wide range of levels and abilities. Learning is fun, engaging, rewarding and suitable for any age!
If a pupil wishes to sit exams in their chosen study, I typically follow the following exam boards for exams (but am more than happy to adapt to suit pupil needs):
- Piano and Music Theory - ABRSM and Trinity
If interested in extra support for school SQA exams, I also provide tuition for all elements of the Music and Music Technology.
