Personal Description:
I am a professional oboist often performing principal oboe with the English Philharmonic and Cor Anglais with the newly re-formed Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. I am studying a performance based PhD at the Royal Academy of Music. I also enjoy a busy freelance career performing around Europe and around the world giving recitals as a bass oboist.
I am also called upon to play flute, clarinet(s) and saxophone(s) for various show work and am able to teach these instruments and their auxiliaries to diploma standard.
I have performed as both a soloist, recording artist and orchestral musician in the USA, Asia, Australia and Europe.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 15 years teaching experience with students successfully continuing to study music to university level. I have given master classes lectures at the University of North Texas, Sydney Conservatoire, the Royal Northern College of Music and Kings College, London.
I have 100% pass rate with students who have successfully passed diplomas and grade 8 on all wind instruments.
I have taught students from the ages of 8-84 over my teaching career be that as an adult learner wanting to play for fun, university students wanting to take music as a career, to school children working their way through ABRSM examinations. My goal is to get you performing and playing to the best of your ability.
Tutoring Approach:
I strive to ensure students have a solid foundation and technique from the off set to make instrumental playing as easy as possible, resulting in fast progression through the ABRSM syllabus'.
