I have a lifelong interest in creating electronic music and developing tools for composition. I've released music on Boe recordings, and remixed artists Adam Jansch, and Reuben Hollebon. I have a working knowledge of modern electronic music production techniques in almost all genres, and have also released commercial audio software applications under the name Siren Audio.
I have an excellent knowledge of Ableton Live, Max for Live (Max/MSP), and most other DAW applications, as well as a good understanding of digital audio in general.
Private tuition helping students to understand electronic music composition and the Max/MSP environment. Experience of lecturing students on modern electronic music, its history, and associated production techniques.
Each student is different in what they want to achieve and where their tastes lie. For music production/composition tuition, I ask the student to send links to music they like, or in some way would like to emulate. From here we identify production styles, sound design, themes, and composition techniques in order to help the student understand how the music is created. After this the focus is on development of their own musical ideas with detailed feedback and guidance.
For more technical projects that include Max/MSP, the goal is for the student to first understand the environment, its strengths and weaknesses, and then the feasibility of the project or idea. Subsequent sessions focus on development and problem solving within the environment.
