Information About Melanie - Brough teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Melanie:
I offer piano and musicianship lessons as well as aural coaching and piano accompaniment for exams. I did much of my music learning as an adult and continue my own instrumental studies.I have an ATCL Recital diploma and am preparing for the next step, as well as for an organ performance diploma. I have a BMus from Hull University and an MA Music Education degree from the University of York.
I first taught some years ago in Hull when my children were young, and since moving to a new area, decided to improve my teaching skills by taking a second degree. I hope to bring fresh ideas and expertise from my studies to music learning.
I teach music in a rounded way through piano. If the learner is very young (4+ years) I recommend an introductory 'pre-instrumental' series of lessons based on musicianship, rhythmic understanding and singing games. I believe it is important to understand how music works and to build on skills gradually. Each student's musical preferences are taken into account and their own musical goals are paramount. I don't simply teach to the exam syllabus, although if you like to take exams, I am happy to help, and to advise when exam entry is appropriate.
