Personal Description:
I completed my Masters degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2017. Whilst at the college I studied Viola with Louise Williams and regularly performed and led the viola sections of all the college's orchestras. I was a member of the Royal Welsh String Soloists and was lucky enough to perform alongside Henning Kraggerud, Bradley Creswick and Danny Philips. I have performed at Buckingham Palace, Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and at the Manchester Jazz Festival. I am a member of the Berlin based ensemble Kammerensemble Neukolln. I completed my undergraduate studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire in 2014 after studying with Rose Redgrave. During my degree I performed in the college's orchestras and in several quartet concerts and masterclasses.
Tutoring Experience:
I am currently a Teacher Artist with In Harmony Opera North, teaching violin and viola to small groups across schools in Leeds. In 2017 I won the Deutches Bank Award for Creative Enterprise in the Music category for my company, Make the Paint Dance. This company delivers music and art workshops to schools and community groups focusing on how music and art can help workshop participants discover their creativity. As a teacher I have a large number of private students, a 100% pass rate for all students I have entered for examinations, I am also the viola tutor of the National Orchestra For All. Previously, I held the position of Curriculum coordinator and Violin tutor with the Strings Club and have taught at both primary and secondary level. I was an apprentice with In Harmony Stoke and Telford and a tutor with Aston Performing Arts Academy.
Tutoring Approach:
I am currently offering online lessons through zoom. I aim to create a fun and innovative teaching environment that is tailored to the individual student. I am happy to teach all genres though I specialise in classical violin and viola teaching. I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities and I have worked with students from age three upwards. I charge £30 per hour and £18.50 for 30 minute lessons.
