Personal Description:

I have been playing the Piano since the age of 3 and the Cello since the age of 9, having been raised by two concert pianists, and therefore come from a very musical background. I studied music throughout school and was a member of the National Childrens' Orchestra. I was also awarded a Music Scholarship to Charterhouse School where I was made Head of Choir. Whilst there, I won the National Schools' Chamber Music Competition for two years running.

I have a Piano Diploma (DipABRSM), and now spend my time teaching as well as performing.

Tutoring Experience:

I currently teach Cello at Claremont Fan Court School in Esher, as well as the Deutsche Schule London in Richmond, and I teach Piano at Bevendean Primary School in Oxshott, whilst also teaching at their senior school, Danes Hill, from time to time. Last year I acted as a cover Piano teacher at Cranmore School in West Horsley. I have also recently set up the Trinity Music Centre at a church in Wimbledon, where I teach Piano in the afternoons.

I have been teaching Piano, Cello, and Music Theory privately for the past 4 years since leaving University, and teach a range of ages, my youngest student being 4 years old and my eldest being 70. I am happy to teach a variety of genres depending on what interests the student.

I also hold an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and energetic, and I think the fact that I am a younger teacher makes it easy for children to relate to me, though I am of course able to communicate and empathise with adult learners also.

I understand the frustrations that children may experience whilst practicing, and my approach is to make them see the challenges in a different light so as not to think of the task as burdensome, by breaking things down into small sections etc and using other exercises to help develop technique.

Many of the students I teach work towards ABRSM graded exams, whilst many adults that I teach enjoy playing a range of genres, from Rock, to Jazz, to Classical, and I am comfortable teaching any of those styles.
