Information About Matthew - Blackheath teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Matthew:
I am a current masters student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying early keyboard instruments in the Department of Historical Performance. I have studied piano, organ and harpsichord extensively throughout my life since I was very young, including through my undergraduate degree in Music at Bristol University. I now live in London and am very keen to share my skills and encourage others to enjoy music as much as I do!
I worked for three years as the Organ Scholar at St Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol, which entailed a great deal of responsibility for coaching and assisting the young singers (two treble choirs of boys and girls). Privately, I have also less frequently given organ and harpsichord lessons to interested friends and acquaintances on an irregular basis. I am very eager to expand my teaching experience!
I believe it is of the highest importance to centre the students’ own experience and interests when giving tuition, as I believe this leads to the kind of self-driven, intrinsic motivation to work hard at music that is the best way to learn. Building up a solid, flexible technique to support the students’ musical progress, but that does not feel forced or unnecessarily complicated, is also extremely important to me.
