Information About Matthew - Birmingham teacher

Personal Description:

I am a cello student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I have studied with cellists including Barbara Grunthal (Manchester Camerata and tutor at Chethams school of Music), Ulrich Heinen (ex-princip cellist of the CBSO) and Ben Davies ( JRAM, RBC, Royal Holloway University)

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching cello for a number of years in Lincolnshire and have had students achieve high merits and distinctions from grades 1 to 7. I am a Lead Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation and assist in workshops for learners of all ages and abilities. I am a cello tutor for the ARCO Project, a charity that provides instrumental lessons for children in impoverished countries.

Tutoring Approach:

I have adopted methods of teaching from the Suzuki, the Colour Strings, Kodaly and franchomme Methods of cello tuition. When approaching tuition with younger or beginner students, it is an absolute necessity to bring comfort and support into the lessons. I aim to provide a positive environment where the student is praised for how they work.
