I study clarinet with Timothy Lines and Barnaby Robson at the Royal College of Music as an RCM Foundation Scholar supported by The Lawrence Winston Scholarship and an Edward and Helen Hague Award. Previously I studied with Anthony Bailey at the RCM Junior Department, winning prizes.
As an orchestral player, I was principal clarinettist of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain 2016, performing in their annual BBC Proms concert, and recording for Chandos. Nominated by NYO, I received the Musicians’ Company Bulgin Medal for outstanding contribution. In 2015 I was awarded a place on the London Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Academy, and I have been a member of the Britten-Pears Orchestra 2017 and 2018. I am currently on trial for principal clarinet chair of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
As a soloist, I won the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain’s Young Clarinettist Competiti**Telephone Number Removed** the past three years, I have performed with ‘Young Virtuosi’ festival touring southern France. I have performed concerti by Mozart, Copland, Spohr and Bassi and solo recital venues include Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room and St James’s Piccadilly.
I have wide-ranging experience in music education. I have taught privately at all levels, from people playing for fun to people preparing for graded exams / auditions.
I have helped lead lead education workshops through various organisations:
-NYOGB Inspire - leading workshops for secondary school students, 2013-2016
-LSO Woodwind Academy animateur work - leading a composition workshop for primary school children, 2015
-In Harmony - helping beginner instrumentalists in an ensemble workshop, 2014
-'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' musical adaptation performed for primary school children at Southbank Imagine Festival, 2014
-Jessie's Fund - leading workshops for children with special needs, 2013
I understand that every pupil learns at a different pace and in different ways, so I aim to tailor each lesson to your individual aims. Whether you're just learning for fun or have a specific goal you want to reach (graded exams / auditions) I hope to push students to achieve their best, while ensuring lessons are as fun and engaging as possible. As well as being able to guide technical progress on the instrument, I like to introduce my students to a broad range of music, developing their musical awareness.
