Personal Description:
I was taught piano by concert pianist and head of piano at Kent Music School, Andrew Haigh and at university by Cambridge based concert pianist Philip Mead.
I am also an award wining composer, and have written for commissions as well as working for multi media companies and a top advertising agency.
I studied composition with John Hopkins as an undergraduate and also briefly with Robin Holloway and John McCabe
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 32 years experience as a freelance piano/composition tutor, both privately and as a school teacher. I have prepared students for ABRSM Piano and theory as well as GCSE, and A level music examinations. Currenly teaching GCSE and A'level composition at Queen Elizabeth's grammar school, Faversham, Kent .
Tutoring Approach:
My goal as a teacher is to help my students develop a love and passion for music. I aim to introduce my students to a broad variety of pieces in order for them to appreciate the many genres of piano music available.
My hope is that no matter what path my students pursue, they will have gained a lasting enjoyment of music and an ability to play long after the lessons have ended.
