Personal Description:

Hi I'm Mark, a professional drummer based in Birmingham. I offer one-to-one drum kit tuition based at two locations: Muthers Studio, Digbeth and Bull's Head, Moseley. Both spaces are big and open with lots of natural light - the perfect environment for learning. Drum kit and all resources are provided. Lessons are relaxed and enjoyable with a focus on musicality.

I can teach all ages and abilities from beginners up to advanced players, and tailor lessons to suit your goals. Learn to read music, take grade exams, learn your favourite songs or play for fun - the choice is yours! From rock and pop to jazz and funk, I cover a wider range of styles and can also help with general musicianship and music theory.

I hold a First Class Honours Degree in Popular Music Performance, have full insurance and an enhanced DBS check. I am also registered as a Rockschool teacher and can deliver their (and others' eg. Trinity) syllabus up to grade 8. Coming from a professional band background, I can teach you about group playing and how to write drum parts too.

Lessons are available for 30 or 60 minutes at times to suit you. For more information, or to book your first lesson, please get in touch!

Tutoring Experience:

I began my teaching career with home based lessons where I would visit a student's house or they would come to me. I then began teaching at the B_Drum School in Digbeth where I still work, and set up Moseley Drum School at The Bull's Head. I have also recently begun working for Progress Music Academy, for whom I teach drums in a school. I have had experience working with a range of students and welcome all ages and abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to lessons is relaxed and enjoyable, with a focus on musicality. Learning to play an instrument should be focused but fun, and I believe that listening to music and learning how to interpret it is an important part of this. I let students decide which path to take, whether that be pursuing grades, learning their favourite songs, or just playing for fun.
