Information About Dorothy - Whitchurch teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Dorothy:
I recently retired from my full time teaching career to concentrate on my music, art and writing. I have always had a love of music and am keen to pass this on to others. I play the piano and guitar and have accompanied school choirs and taken part in small ensembles and folk groups for many years.
I now work from home where I have a music room and have set up a working studio for art groups and tutoring.
I have taught for over twenty years as a primary school teacher. As the music coordinator in my school I organised school choirs, and other musical events throughout the year helping to prepare children for exams and performances on a range of other instruments. I taught recorder and guitar within school
I accompanied school concerts and other events such as St Davids Day, Harvest and weekly assembly and hymn practices. I have taught private piano pupils for many years in my own home and prepared them for exams up to grade 5. With a specialism in Sen I taught in a SEN class for over ten years.
I feel everyone has the ability to enjoy music and making music. My approach has always been to make lessons fun and am happy to teach all ages. I am happy to adapt the style of teaching as required according to need, whether you are learning purely for fun or want move in a more academic approach towards exams. I feel music is for everyone!
