Personal Description:

I am an aspiring orchestral bassoonist and I have just graduated with a 1st from the Royal College of Music. I am about to begin a postgraduate in Orchestral Artistry at Guildhall School of Music. I want teaching to be a big part of my career and all the teaching I have done so far has just confirmed that for me. I adore the social aspect of music, being creative with other people, and I believe this is why I enjoy teaching so much - It is amazing to be able to pass on this love of creativity to others.
I have three diplomas on the bassoon (ATCL, LTCL and DipABRSM), a diploma on recorder (ATCL), grade 8 distinction on piano and distinction in Grade 5 Theory. I live in Wimbledon but am also happy to travel to students. I also adore dogs, walking, tennis and films.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught absolute beginners right the way through to grade 8 and beyond. I have worked students towards exams and also taught students just so they can enjoy playing. I began teaching 5 years ago, in both schools and privately, classes of individuals, groups and whole class tuition so am comfortable with all different lesson types.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is important as a teacher to find what motivates each student and keeps them interested, whether they prefer improvising and composing or playing kinaesthetic games to learn about different aspects of music. I like arranging music and songs that the students like if that interests them. I also like to accompany my students on my own instrument once they've learnt a piece (as it feels like a performance) and demonstrate to them as we go along as I believe it is a very effective way of a student learning how to use their ears and decide what they want to do musically with a piece.
