Swedish cellist Lydia moved to the UK in 2012 to study at the Royal Academy of Music as a scholarship student. Her studies were concluded in 2017, having obtained an MA in 2017 and BMus in 2016. Lydia was later awarded the prestigious post as a Chamber Music Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, where she coached undergraduate students in Chamber Music. Lydia was recently awarded a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (2020).
Lydia is passionate about combining a solid technical foundation, as well as incorporating the joy for music in each lesson she teaches.

Tutoring Experience:

Lydia has been a private tutor for over six years time, having tutored in mainly Cello and Piano, but also Music Theory and Composition. Along with teaching a thriving private music class, Lydia also works for St Albans Music Academy and Centre for Young Musicians, and has previously taught at London Music Masters and Hammersmith Music Classes. She has done outreach work with the charity 'Play for Progress', leading workshops at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, as well as the Southbank Centre. Lydia has taught at cello courses for young children in Sweden, as well as giving masterclasses and guest teaching at the most prominent junior music school in Sweden, Lilla Akademien.

Lydia specialises in teaching beginners, and have successfully 'raised' students from beginners to grade 5 level in about 4-5 years time. The students that she enters for ABRSM exams typically achieve Merit or higher grades, and have gained music scholarship places at secondary schools.

As an active performer, she enjoys performing as a chamber musician and as a soloist, as well as with different orchestras in the UK, such as Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and The Little Orchestra.
