Information About Luke - Huddersfield teacher

Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate of the University of Huddersfield where I obtained a Masters in Musicology. I am currently a Trainee secondary music teacher where I am also studying for a PGCE. I began my musical journey at the age of 8 where I started playing the trumpet as part of a wider opportunities scheme. Since then, I have had the pleasure of studying music with some prestigious teachers and lecturers at the Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire and the University of Huddersfield. During my studies at university, I have gained knowledge in Musicology, Music Analysis, Music Psychology, Orchestration, Music Technology, music education, and Composition, alongside many other areas. During my time at university, I have had the pleasure of performing with the University’s Brass band in which we have gained numerous awards from contests such as UniBrass and the Cory band Online Contest. Outside of my studies, I play in a local brass band who have a rich calendar of concerts and contests.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience in preparing my students for both ABRSM and Trinity brass examinations for which I currently have a 100% pass rate. I am also experienced in preparing my students to undertake the ABRSM theory exams (both the online and paper-based examinations) where currently 100% of my exam entries have achieved a distinction. I also provide tuition to those who simply want to learn for pleasure rather than for exams. I have worked with a wide range of ages, abilities and goals.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to make lessons fun, inclusive and engaging to ensure that every student will gain something from them no matter their age, level or ability. Every lesson that I provide is tailored around the goals and wishes of the student to ensure that the lessons are as beneficial as possible. I provide a structure to the lessons with a clear goal in mind.
