Personal Description:

I have just graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in Music. I have been singing for over eight years and teaching voice for three years. I currently study with Andrew Heggie and sing with the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain through whom I have gained most of my singing experience.

When not singing I also conduct choirs and compose original music. I am conscientious, loyal and have a good sense of humour.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught many pupils of varying ability over the last three years, from complete beginners to more experienced singers. Having studied singing to a University Degree level, I have all the skills required to give sound, structured advice to my pupils that will help them develop any aspect of their vocal technique that they want to improve upon. I have regularly participated in vocal classes with other singers, giving advice and support. I also conduct choirs frequently and so work on vocal technique with large groups of singers on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different. I am flexible in my teaching approach and tailor lessons specifically to the individual student. I am experienced in explaining the concepts behind good vocal technique and break these down so they can be clearly understood and managed.

A standard lesson would be 2/3rds on various vocal warm ups and 1/3rd on repertoire. This is also flexible because I see tuition as a two way process. There may be something that the student specifically wants to work on in lessons such as vowel shape, support and engagement, high notes, tone quality, etc. and I am happy to focus on certain areas if it is so desired. In terms of repertoire, the student can either bring music they want to sing or I am happy to choose pieces that will suit the student's voice. I can teach more choral based skills such as sight-reading and musicianship.

Lessons that I give are enjoyable, informative and based on good healthy vocal technique.
