Hi, My name is Lucy , I have been a professional vocal coach for 20 years. I opened Voxbox Singer's Studio in London in 2002 which is now an award winning studio in London.
I am a fully trained and qualified singing teacher and I teach all genres of contemporary music which includes: Pop, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Soul and Musical Theatre.
I enjoy teaching Singers at all levels from beginners to pro.
I have been singing and performing since I was 5 years old. I trained at The
Arts Educational Schools in Chiswick, danced with The Lewis London Ballet Company and have worked in Musical Theatre in both the West End and Nationals Tours. I then moved on to sing in a number of contemporary bands around the UK and excelled in studio recording and session work.
After graduating from The Arts Educational School in London and having had considerable success as a professional performer I decided to broaden my career path and in 2001 travelled to L.A, California to train as a vocal coach. I trained as a teacher of voice under the tutelage of world-renowned vocal teachers including Seth Riggs tutor to Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Dave Stroud working with Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, One Direction and Justin Bieber and during this time reached level 4 in Speech Level Singing Training Programme. I certified in The Science of Singing and Vocal Acoustics. I have taught regularly in both London and LA.
I have worked with Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, Alex Clare, Lawson and Boyzone and have had extensive studio experience. I am regularly called upon to coach artists signed by Universal, Polydor and Sony records.
I have trained professional performers for many West End musicals including: Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You and The Lion King and am currently working with children who are starring in Kinky Boots and Matilda
I have had extensive training in Drama, Dance and Singing, and has taught all three disciplines. My expertise in Musical Theatre means that I am an excellent Audition and Performance Coach and teach ‘Singing for Actors’
I was initially trained classically, and although some may say that is a good basis, it was unable to help me sing any contemporary style. My initial training had created a sound that only suited classical and opera singing and I felt that I did not know my own voice. I went to many singing teachers who told me that was just the way I sang and unfortunately would probably never successfully sing ‘pop’ or modern musical theatre, I was unconvinced! I started studying the voice, the physiology and audio physics in order to understand how my singing voice functioned, as well as studying with some world class contemporary teachers.
Eventually, I totally transformed my voice, and now understand and can sing all contemporary styles with a tone and range that is completely suited to the genre. I believe that the research and understanding that I have of the singing voice as well as my own personal struggle and journey has given me a great experience which I bring to my teaching. I understand what it feels like to be frustrated with the sound of your voice, to be unable to hit the high notes clearly and strongly and without strain, to have no confidence in your vocal performance, I’ve been there and been through it …… But, now I can help you fix it!!!!!!
