Personal Description:

Hi, My name is Lucy , I have been a professional vocal coach for 19 years. I opened Voxbox Singer's Studio in London in 2002 which is now an award winning studio and is the largest singing centre in London.
I am a fully trained and qualified singing teacher and I teach all genres of contemporary music which includes: Pop, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Soul and Musical Theatre
Originally a performer in musical theatre, I have been a professional voice coach in contemporary styles for the past 19 years and has over 28 years experience in music and performing. I believe passionately in understanding singing techniques as a means of healthy vocal production, longevity of singing career and helping students to understand how their voice works. I opened the award winning Vocal studio Voxbox Singers Studio in 2003 and have worked with singers of all ages and levels from hobbyists to professionals. I have been leading the Voxbox Beginners Course for 10 years and during that time I have taught well over 1000 new singers to overcome any fears and start the singing process. I am an expert in teaching all genres and helping students to understand how their voice works and communicating a technique which helps them to develop quickly and identify any problems. I enjoy teaching all levels of ability from absolute beginners to top level performers.
I have done extensive training in Drama, Dance and Singing, and has taught all three disciplines. My expertise in Musical Theatre means that I am an excellent Audition and Performance Coach and teach ‘Singing for Actors’

Tutoring Experience:

I have been singing and performing since she was 5 years old, I trained at The Arts Educational Schools in Chiswick, danced with The Lewis London Ballet Company and have worked in Musical Theatre in both the West End and Nationals Tours. I then moved on to sing in a number of contemporary bands around the UK and excelled in studio recording and session work.
I have worked with artist including: Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, Dionne Bromfield, Alex Clare and X-Factor finalists.
I have trained professional performers for many West End Musicals including: Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You and The Lion King. I have coached singers for TV appearances including; Strictly Come Dancing and Any Dream Will Do and appeared alongside Louis Walsh and Boyzone on the judging panel at the Carlisle Live Festival.
I trained as a teacher of voice in LA under the tutelage of world renowned vocal teachers and during this time reached level 4 in Speech Level Singing and has taught at a prestigious SLS summer camp in the US. Lucy has taught regularly in both London and LA

Tutoring Approach:

I was initially trained classically, and although some may say that is a good basis, it was unable to help me sing any contemporary style. My initial training had created a sound that only suited classical and opera singing and I felt that I did not know my own voice. I went to many singing teachers who told me that was just the way I sang and unfortunately would probably never successfully sing ‘pop’ or modern musical theatre, I was unconvinced! I started studying the voice, the physiology and audio physics in order to understand how my singing voice functioned, as well as studying with some world class contemporary teachers.

Eventually, I totally transformed my voice, and now understand and can sing all contemporary styles with a tone and range that is completely suited to the genre. I believe that the research and understanding that I have of the singing voice as well as my own personal struggle and journey has given me a great experience which I bring to my teaching. I understand what it feels like to be frustrated with the sound of your voice, to be unable to hit the high notes clearly and strongly and without strain, to have no confidence in your vocal performance, I’ve been there and been through it …… But, now I can help you fix it!!!!!!
