Information About Lorna - Windermere teacher
This is how a referee rated Lorna:
I am a semi retired vocal teacher with 50 years of performing and teaching experience. I have recently relocated from Zimbabwe (where I had my own vocal studio and presented many concerts and show cased many fine students) to Cumbria. I was also a music director at the local theatre.
My speciality is dealing with vocal problems through proper vocal technique. My classical repertoire is Lieder, Baroque, Musical, Operetta, Opera and Art Songs.
I like to work on a one to one so that I can gain the confidence of the student. The voice is the seat of every emotion. If one is sad, tense, happy, it shows in the voice. A tense larynx can signal stress. But good singing relieves stress. I tell my students "it is easy to sing well, but difficult to sing badly" !! At my age of 75 I can still sing Strauss and Mahler with excellent breath control, because I have a sound technique which I pass on to my students. There is no short cut to good singing. It takes discipline and self knowledge to release one's God given singing voice. I also help with speech difficulties.
You are never too young or too old to start to get to know your voice.
