Personal Description:
I am a Professional musician and Instrumental teacher. I teach Piano, Trumpet and Trombone to intermediate level and French Horn to grade 8. I teach at the students home (with an adult present). I tailor my teaching to suit the individual and am trained in the Kodaly method which I draw on in my lessons.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 7 years instrumental teaching experience on a wide range of instruments. I teach Piano, French Horn, Trumpet and Trombone. I work with Southwark Music, the DaCapo Music foundation and Intergenerational Music Making.
Tutoring Approach:
I love helping students progress on an instrument they are passionate about. My favorite aspect of instrumental teaching is helping students express themselves through their instrument as well as working together to solve a problem in a difficult piece or aspect of their technique. I tailor my teaching to the needs of the pupil. I am trained in the Kodaly method which I draw on to work on melody, rhythm and pitch. This is particularly effective with young children aged 4+ however I have experience teaching all ages including adults.
For a lesson I would recommend 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the age of the student. I am very happy to discuss this.
