Personal Description:
Hello - my name is Lindsay and I am a professional flute, clarinet and saxophone player. I have been playing for over twenty years and currently play for a number of bands and small ensembles in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, folk, popular, rock and reggae. I have played many different events and venues and have a great passion for music.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over twenty years of peripatetic teaching experience both privately and also within school environments. I can teach individuals, small groups or even whole classes and have a wealth of own composed repertoire to enable new players to get playing with only a small amount of note and music knowledge. I have relevent grade exams, a diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and have completed a BSc in Music Technology at the University of Kent which contained specialised modules on music education.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy teaching others how to play an instrument and my lessons aim to be fun and enjoyable. I tailor lessons specifically to the pupil and all ages and abilities are welcome. I especially enjoy teaching beginners and aim to get pupils playing in only a few lessons. My teaching style includes reading music as well as playing by ear and I aim to cover a variety of styles within the lessons. The most important thing when learning an instrument is confidence. I also undertake Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity grade examinations and have 100% pass rate both in theory and practical examinations. However, one can learn just for fun too. I can also help with advice on purchasing/hiring instruments.
I have developed an online tutoring system over zoom that my students have found engaging and rewarding with many taking performance exams during the lockdown and receiving merits and distinctions.

Her methods have helped me get to grips with the real fundamentals of the instrument, giving me the security and confidence to learn and progress.
She even offered advice on places to buy or hire a saxophone.
The hour went very quick, which is a good sign.
My shoulders, arms and jaw ached at the end, so I need to toughen up before my next session
As a result after my positive lesson, I've since gone out and hired a Tenor Saxophone.
I will be booking some more lessons after I've got a bit more confidence with manhandling my new toy…
I would recommend Lindsay to anyone
