Personal Description:

British Franco-Chinese violinist Laure has performed in Europe, Asia, Canada and the Americas.

She made her concerto debut aged thirteen at Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh. As a recitalist, Laure has been invited to perform in prominent venues including the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, French Embassy in Beijing, Paris Opéra Bastille and London's Cadogan hall among others.

In 2015, she was awarded 1st prize at the Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition. In 2010 she received the Music Director’s Award of the Oxford Philharmonic at Oxford University. As a previous student of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Laure gained the John McAslan violin prize in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior sections from 2007 to 2011.

She has had guidance from great violinists such as Maxim Vengerov, Pinchas Zukerman and Nicola Benedetti.

For the celebrations of Chinese New Year, Laure was invited to perform an open air concert to an audience of thousands in Trafalgar Square and was featured on LBC News Radio. Other broadcasts include an appearance on Norwegian radio in Oslo and a live broadcast at the Victoria and Albert Museum on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.

Laure is also keen on historical performance and took up the baroque violin under the guidance of Lucy Russell in 2014. She has enjoyed performing Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Bach's Double Concerto with fellow friends in period ensembles at the Harwich and Brandenburg festivals. She participated in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment's 2017 scheme ranging from small Baroque ensembles to large-scale Classical symphonic works and performing in major London concert halls such as Kings Place, St John's Smith Square and Royal Festival Hall.

Born in 1995, Laure began the violin at the age of five at the Royal Academy of Music in London continuing at the Junior Department with Yumi Sasaki. She joined the Royal College of Music as a Foundation Scholar in 2012 graduating with First Class honours. Presently studying with Radu Blidar, she is completing a Master in Performance as a John Lewis Partnership Scholar.

Laure would like to thank the Hattori foundation, Donald Paterson Fund, EMI Music Sound Foundation and Dorothy Croft trust for their support.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had experience in private teaching for kids and teenagers ranging from intermediate to more advanced levels. In 2017 I volunteered at a music camp in Puntarenas, Costa Rica teaching young violinists and also giving public masterclasses at the University of Costa Rica in San José.

Tutoring Approach:

I hope to inspire my pupils musically and provide them a good technical base to achieve their musical intent. I have gone through the ABRSM system and Trinity exams from grade 1 to diploma myself as a child, so I could help students prepare if they want to do exams.
