Information About Kostas - Bloomsbury teacher
I was born in Kozani (Greece) and started playing the piano at the age of five. I started my studies at the regional music School of Kozani and at the age of fifteen I joined the Music high school where I focused and specialized in piano performance.
In 2002 I won a prize in performance on a student's national competition. At that age I started composing music for big theatrical productions which took place all over Greece with great success. I worked as a music producer, composer and teacher for the 'Municipal and Regional Theatre of Koznani' for 6 years( a very well known and successful theatrical establishment of Western Macedonia in Greece).
For many years I have been preparing, accompanying and rehearsing with choirs of all ages who took part in national choir competitions and gained the first prize in one of them.
Till the age of twenty I have copmosed and produced the music for 3 theatrical productions as well as I performed on stage in two of these productions.
At the age of 17 I started having lessons with Igor Petrin in Thessaloniki while preapring myself to join Goldsmiths College in 2005. I studied in Goldsmiths College for 5 years and I gained 3 degrees. I studied Copmosition with great copmosers such as Dmitri Smirnov and Roger Redgate.
At the moment I work as a piano teacher as well as music copmoser and producer.
I have started teaching music from the age of 19 and that helped me to gain a vast experience and a good understanding of what is important for each individual student. I have taught music to students of all ages from the age of 4 up to the age of 70.
My main focus is helping students to improve by building their confidence. My approach to that comes from my experience of many years of performing on stage.
I can either help with the preparation for an exam with a recognised music board/school or I can help someone who would like to learn for fun or self improvement.
As a composer I do focus on the creativity and the musical expectation of each individual student. We can either work on a specific syllabus or work on a series of compositional techniques exploring the posibillities of all the different posibillities and approaches of the copmositional technique.
