Katie Hawcutt is a creative and experienced professional musician who specialises on the saxophone, flute and clarinet, both in jazz and classical music.
As a musician Katie prides herself on her ability to perform and teach a wide range of musical genres. A classically trained musician in her early years she went on to study Jazz Saxophone in her teens and at the age of sixteen became an Associate of the London College of Music (LCM) for Jazz Performance. Only a year later she was also awarded the Licentiate Diploma from LCM and began having lessons under world class saxophonist and educator, Jean Toussaint at Birmingham Conservatoire. In 2007 Katie enrolled on the BA(Hons) Jazz course at Leeds College of Music (first study Alto Saxophone) where she gained an in depth knowledge of improvisation and composition. This has led to her involvement not only in a number of jazz ensembles but also a diverse range of pop, rock, contemporary classical, soul and funk bands.
Katie is also passionate about music education and enjoys teaching in a variety of environments ranging from large scale workshops, to school ensembles, to ividual tuition. She works/ has worked with a number of arts organisations and music agencies including Severn Arts (UK), BlueJam Arts (UK), The Mobile Music School (Ireland) and Oorla Rafter's Performing Arts School & Casting **Contact Detail Removed** (Ireland). Her role as a Music Leader has included running a variety of creative and interactive educational workshops for both children and adults. She is an experienced instrumental teacher, classrom music educator and ensemble leader, teaching in many schools across the UK.

An accomplished performer of both classical and jazz music on the flute, saxophone and clarinet she is able to teach to professional standard and demonstrate techniques to pupils as part of the learning process. Katie is happy for lessons to be flexible and based around the aims of each individual, whether that is graded exams, ensemble playing or beginners wanting to explore their instrument and have fun.
