Personal Description:

I studied cello and piano at Chetham's School of Music and The Royal College of Music (including history of music, theory and harmony/aural training). Since moving to Bath, I have played cello, both on gut (Baroque) and metal strings, performing with Quorum and Bybrook Baroque, A Handful of Singers, Beaminster Singers and annually at Jackdaws on the Handel Course. Quorum performed regularly in Christchurch, Frome and I play for Bath Cantata and Oakfield Choir. I have two (almost grown up!) daughters, and a teaching diploma from the ABRSM. I love skiing, hiking and sailing, among many creative interests and am a member of the European String Teacher's Association.
I enjoy reading the National Geographic Magazine and the New Scientist.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching includes cello at the Michael Tippett Centre at Bath Spa University. As well as my ABRSM teaching diploma I have a Certificate of Teaching, also awarded by the ABRSM. I have taught cello and piano privately at home for many years and for several schools in the surrounding area. I am happy to teach both in private, one-to-one situations, small groups playing chamber music, or string ensemble works. I am happy to teach both online and lessons in person, at all levels.
I have successfully taught children and adults and bring a musical, lively, enthusiastic approach to lessons, searching for the inspiring, creative spirit within all of us.

Tutoring Approach:

My ethos: A cellist and piano teacher, teaching Music primarily, not just excellence of instrument technique.
Communication through music, whether that be to an audience, or to enable imaginative music-making with friends.
