Personal Description:

I am a Peterborough based flute and piano teacher and freelancer, and in 2014 gained a Masters degree in Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music with Distinction

I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2012 with a First Class honours degree, specializing in Flute. During my undergraduate studies I was employed by the Birmingham Music Service and also provided cover work for flute and piano teachers elsewhere at a private Music School. I have experience in teaching using a variety of methods, depending on the needs and desires of the individual. This also spans from infants to adults.

I have maintained piano as a second study and happy to teach up to Grade 6 level. I am also able to accompany flute pupils at my house, which can be invaluable to learning.

Tutoring Experience:

I have several years of teaching experience which involves teaching in schools around London, as a peripatetic teacher and as part of the Newham Music Service (Every Child a Musician). These lessons contain a mixture of group lessons and individual on both flute and piano, and I have a number of private students

I will adapt my lessons according to the individual's requirements and make sure that they are in line with what you would like to achieve from your lessons. I teach all ages and all standards, from complete beginner to ABRSM Grade 8+. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing is that you get a satisfaction from what you learn and achieve in the lessons, which will enable you to feel motivated to put aspects from the lesson into practice during the week. I endeavor to make the lesson as fun and enjoyable as possible, whilst incorporating areas of general musicianship and important attention to technique into the lesson. I will always make sure that what we have covered in the lesson is written down and that there is a clear structure for practice to help you.

Practice should never be a chore, and I will be happy to either work through grades while expanding repertoire, or simply to improve your skills and enjoy playing.
