Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching for over 3 years at the DS Music School in Monmouth as well as privately in Cardiff and the South Wales area. My students range from total beginners to onstage performers, from the ages of 8 up to people in their late 70's. I have a love for outreach in musical education, which allows me to share a passion for music to large groups of children hoping to inspire them into taking up an instrument themselves. In 2018 I worked alongside the British Art Council as a member of the BBC National Chorus of Wales teaching school children languages through the aid of rhythm and song.
I also tutor sections of award winning choir Only Boys Aloud
Tutoring Approach:
I have a strong belief that all students learn differently so I aim to adapt my explanation and instruction to the student's age, ability, and overall knowledge. I aim to make the student feel comfortable in letting go and just allowing themselves to have faith in their abilities, especially in younger students.
I never force any students into just doing graded examinations, especially young children. I believe that music should never become a chore and I want my students to want to do exams out of the love of singing and performing, it is at this stage that students have a better drive to learn and improve.
