Personal Description:

I have played live (professionally and in original bands) in venues across Scotland, including the Prestonfield house hotel, EICC, Shieldhill castle hotel, Usher hall, Liquid rooms and Carling Academy. I have also written a book (which can be found on amazon.com) of original melodic studies for plectrum style guitarists, called 'plectrum studies for the serious guitarist'. Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching privately for around 8 years, with pupils ranging from advanced to complete beginner, ages from 6 to 60. I have also been guitar teacher for Brunsfield primary school, Edinburgh music lessons, and Portobello Music School.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to create a friendly and pressure free environment, yet keeping the goal of improving at guitar paramount. I feel that students benefit most from lessons if they're really learning the guitar, and music in general so I take this approach with teaching; instead of just running through songs I try to encourage students to learn the materials that will enable them to take their playing to the next level.
