Information About Joshua - Hove teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Joshua:
I have been playing and performing music for over 10 years. I've worked professionally as a bass player with many bands, performing original material and playing at functions. I've performed at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in the UK including The 100 Club, Concorde 2, Dingwalls, 2000 Trees and Cornbury Festival. As a member of the Alternative Blues band Stark, I contribute to both writing and production. I' have recorded at several major recording studios including Monkey Puzzle House (Porcupine Tree, The Klaxons), Metway Studios (The Levellers) and The Music Farm (Albert Lee). My knowledge of contemporary music is extensive and I've gigged with bands ranging from a 3 piece Folk act to a full size big band. Recently, I graduated from the University of Sussex earning a BA (Hons) and a Foundation Degree in Professional Musicianship.
“Josh is a fantastic player, his sense of groove and rhythm is superb, especially for someone his age…It’s always a pleasure to work with Josh and his attitude and commitment is excellent. I’d highly recommend him as a player.” Chris Howlett (Gloria Gaynor, Barbara Dickson, Carol
I have taught both privately and in schools, working on both a 1 to 1 basis and teaching large groups. I've previously assisted at Central Sussex College during live performance workshops and hosted and recording workshop at Archbishops Tensions School Croydon.
I began teaching in order to share my passion for music and creating with others. I encourage students to make their own discoveries whilst setting clear goals they can work towards. Whatever area of bass playing you wish to study I'm happy to guide you through it. This includes study of music theory, sight reading, styles, technique, improvisation, ear training or any other topic that you would like to work on.
I also have an understanding of many of the more common injuries faced by bass players including carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome and have developed techniques for tackling these.
