This is how 2 referees rated Josh:
Hello! Josh is a professional saxophone player and teacher. Based in Cardiff and a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's prestigious jazz course, he continues to actively develop his extensive knowledge and experience of the instrument that he loves.
Josh began teaching in 2013, and has since enjoyed successfully developing students of all ages and abilities, visiting them privately in the home, or as a peripatetic woodwind teacher in schools. He teaches the saxophone, flute, clarinet and music theory. He has a 100% pass rate with students who choose to take ABRSM grade exams.
Music is a powerful thing, holding huge potential that is different for everybody. Josh tailors lessons to you and will teach, by ear or by written music, the pieces of music that you wish to learn. He has excellent knowledge of music theory, he encourages children and adults to develop the ability to play naturally - by ear and by feel - as well as from notes that are written down. Engaging with rhythm, melody, sound and expression is all important but having fun and improving your confidence is the priority!
“Josh has been teaching me alto sax for 9 months and I really enjoy the lessons. He is very patient and doesn’t wince when I hit bad notes! Josh is a very relaxed teacher and is happy to help with any music genre from jazz and classical to ska, show tunes and popular music” – Testimonial from a mature student.
