Personal Description:

I am a 21 year old drummer, that has just graduated from the Bristol Institute of Modern Music, with a BA(Hons) in Professional Musicianship. I have 9 years diverse playing experience, from brass bands and orchestras to my own successful 6 piece ska band.

Tutoring Experience:

In 2010 I set up my own minor teaching practice for beginners. I had 4 weekly students that I taught from the absolute basics. I used the Colin Woolway Drumsense books for this as these are the books I learnt from and found very easy to follow.

I have also been a guest tutor for the Isle of Man Arts Council when they put on a workshop weekend with guest Conductor Richard Evans.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed attitude to teaching and approach tasks with a facilitator role. I feel by approaching tasks this way means that the student can take control of their own learning. I personally preferred having this approach when I was taught. I feel that if the student is guiding their own learning, their growing confidence will increase their personal learning speed. Also confidence is a key aspect in music performance!
