Personal Description:
I am a young and enthusiastic music educator specialising in Brass and Drums with 6 years experience in teaching, while also being an extremely passionate and driven musician regularly playing in an eclectic mixture of styles and genres.
I have experience working in many different contexts within music including: Performance, recording, booking, teaching(both classroom/workshops and 1 to 1) and administration. Having worked in several schools in regular settings with pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds and working in SEN settings with Profound Deafness, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and EBDs, I have gained the experience to deliver engaging and well thought out lessons to a range of ages or abilities.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been a self employed music tutor/performer specialising in Trumpet and brass for 6 years.
Hackney Music Service september 2016- present.
Peripatetic Brass/piano tutor working in Primary and Secondary settings delivering engaging lessons to groups of up to 4 students at a time.
Sulivan Primary School
Primary peripatetic teacher delivering tuition on Drums,Brass and group workshops
Soundabout(Oxford): From September 2014 and February 2015
Preparing and delivering weekly workshop in two 6 week terms to a group of 15 disabled adults.
Leeds Music Hub(Leeds): From December 2013 to July 2014
Employed as a 1 to 1 trumpet tutor.
St John’s Catholic School for the Deaf(Yorkshire): From Jan to June 2013. Total of eleven, hour and a quarter sessions. Preparing and running weekly group workshops for a group of 7 year 8 girls with Profound Deafness.
I have also worked in a number of schools as a Learning Support Assistant in the Leeds, Bradford area with Teaching Personnel and Randstad Education. From November 2013 to July 2014.
Tutoring Approach:
Having gained my degree in Jazz from the prestigious Leeds College of Music in 2013, I perform in a variety of ensembles including: ‘Nubiyan Twist’, ‘The Drop’ and ‘The Wonderful Sound of the Cinema Organ’. I am a versatile performer involved with groups that play Jazz, Pop, R&B, Swing, Latin, Afro-beat, Classical and Folk. I am experienced in giving tuition based around many styles and genres, this provides all students with a wide variety in skills to follow whatever path interests them. I am very open minded musically and am keen to give my students an inspiring path into music.
