Personal Description:

Hello! I am someone who has loved music all their life and I want to share that by teaching others. I've had music teachers for most of my life so I know what it feels like to have a good (or a bad) guitar teacher. From a classical background I began learning contemporary music such as classic rock, blues, jazz and metal and achieved Grade 8 with Rockschool.

Alongside my guitar grades I also learnt Music Theory up to Grade 5. I went on to gained a 2:1 in Music Technology at Teesside University which increased my understanding of music and sound greatly, and I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE degree and a Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills certificate. I have taught Music in a Secondary school and have knowledge of requirements for GCSE and beyond.

Throughout my life I have played in cover bands, written songs and produced music for all sorts of styles. Currently I am working on some instrumental projects and play acoustic guitar live regularly. Beyond music I am married, a Father of two year old, and I'm a big fan of coffee!

I would love to spend time with you to continue learning the art of the guitar.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a qualified teacher who has taught Music in a secondary school for all ages from Yr7 to 6th Form. This is giving me lots of experience in teaching classes, small groups and individuals various aspects of Music Technology and Music Theory. This means if you pick me to teach you guitar, I can also help you learn various other relatable Music Tech and Theory skills.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is based on building rapport and relationship with the people I teach to help them learn in their own way and develop their own skills. I am happy to tailor my lessons specifically to the individual to give them the best possible experience. I focus on giving an understanding of how music works, scales, exercise and of course learning the songs and music that you love and enjoy. Thanks to the internet I am available via email and even skype to give quick free Q&A in between lessons. I am also happy to aid students in their pursuit of qualifications and grades and other areas of Music Technology and Music Theory.
