Personal Description:

Hi im Jay and I am an experienced and enthusiastic guitarist, who has been playing for many years in a variety off musical formats, I also actively work with many other musicians and perform a variety of material. I am also a songwriter who writes, arranges, plays and produces his own work. I have worked as a session musician in the now defunct Aluna studios in Amsterdam. As musical director for numerous European bands I gained valuable touring experience and after many years in Europe have now settled in my native Liverpool where I am co-founder of the eclectic Living Music project together with Paul Costello. I am also the composer and arranger for the Kat, n, Kave a three piece instrumental rock band with drummer Michael Weisman from Israel and bassist Elijah John Jacques from Chicago .I also have an ongoing collaboration with Indian sitar virtuoso Parthia Bose from Calcutta India and have five recorded cods, other collaborations include guitarist with straight ahead fusion band Skunkadelic.

I teach electric guitar where I cover many styles and techniques. I have a large collection of exercises that introduce the student to new styles and give them a basic understanding of them. I teach lead and rhythm guitar and also the area where they cross over. I teach my students guitar techniques they will actually find a use for.
I teach acoustic guitar too including accompaniment styles, solo playing and advanced techniques. I teach from home in my studio where I have everything I need. Each lesson the student receives a set of printed notes for their "homework" along with copies of whatever exercises they are working on. I can give my students a CD with recordings of the exercise they are working on if they require it, many with backing tracks to practice over.
You do not have to read music to have lessons but if you want to I can teach you that too. My lessons involve some music theory as and when the techniques involved demand it.
All the music notes I use which I have created myself are printed clearly and are written in guitar tablature and standard notation. I have a very large library of music so students can learn songs they want to. If a student wants to work on one particular aspect of technique or theory we can do that. No two students are the same - I tailor each lesson to the student's needs.
