Personal Description:

I am Music Director of London Musical Arts Orchestra which was based at St Martin-in-the-Fields (1992 - 2020) and an international guest conductor of professional orchestras Europe-wide. I have also worked with many student and community orchestras and choirs.

I studied conducting at Oxford University (Bachelor of Arts), Royal Academy of Music, London (ARAM), St Petersburg Conservatoire (Diploma) under Prof. Ilya Musin.

My current offering is individual lessons, tailored to your specific needs and ambitions, and the level and type of ensembles you work with. These can be given as a comprehensive course of lessons, or as more occasional coaching for specific repertoire or issues you may have.

In the future I will also be offering workshops and masterclasses, so please click the link to join the mailing list so I can keep you informed about those. Thank you.

Tutoring Experience:

I began teaching conducting 10 years, giving individual lessons, workshops, and masterclasses with orchestra.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to enable you to direct the musical flow precisely as you feel it - with no compromises! For this, we will
work on physically embodying the character of the music, connecting deeply with the music and internalising the score. My teaching is based around the work of the great pedagogue of the St Petersburg Conservatoire, Ilya Musin, who helped me in so many ways and has inspired me to share what I have learned.

I can help with all aspects of conducting, from technique, score analysis and interpretation, to memorising scores, managing rehearsals, and getting the best out of your musicians.

My current offering is individual lessons tailored to your specific needs and ambitions and the level and type of ensembles you work with. These can be given as a comprehensive course of lessons or as occasional coaching for specific repertoire or issues you may have. I enjoy observing my students, analysing their issues and finding creative solutions for them, as well as being deeply committed to their development.

I offer a free 20 minute no obligation consultation to give you a taste of my approach. There are significant discounts available for courses of lessons paid in advance.

Lessons are given in person in either NW or SE London. Some lessons may be taken online if desired. In the future I will also be offering workshops and masterclasses, so please contact me if you are interested in those as well.
