I am a professional saxophonist, private tutor and graduate of Southampton University with a 2.1 degree in Maths with Music. I have always been passionately devoted to music and enjoy teaching new skills to others as much as I enjoy crafting them myself. I started learning the piano in primary school and soon afterwards picked up the saxophone - undoubtedly two of my greatest decisions to date. I was classically trained and achieved grade 8 in both before starting university, where I soon discovered the depth of my passion for jazz. I am a resident saxophonist for Dick's Tea Bar in Val D'isère (French Alps) and tour regularly in venues across the UK playing for varying events from weddings to parties to club nights.
Music is largely my foremost passion, however I also enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tennis. As an easy going person with a versatile skillset I believe I can help anyone develop their musical ability and become inspired to reach their full potential.
For several years I have been privately teaching piano and saxophone to a wide range of students of all ages, abilities and interests, and thoroughly enjoy nurturing the natural excitement and talent in each of them. I am also a maths tutor with several GCSE students, so I have lots of experience in working with children and fostering the essential qualities needed to achieve their goals. Through my extensive experience in teaching I have developed a great deal of knowledge and understanding of how to approach the learning process, and the many positive reviews will hopefully serve as testament to my ability as a teacher.
When teaching I make sure to tailor the lesson to the individual personality and aims of each student whilst ensuring the learning environment is relaxed yet focused. Outside of the lesson I believe that inspiring students to enjoy practising and crafting their skills leads to significant results, so I therefore make it a primary aim to encourage this from the start. Overall, if I am offered just a small amount of concentration and hard work then I believe I can take anyone to their desired goals - whether its grades, a deeper understanding of Jazz Theory or just to have fun playing music!
