Personal Description:

Jodie is a British soprano, currently based in Manchester, Berkshire and London. She is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (BMus), a scholar at the Royal Northern College of Music (MMus) and a Karen Cargill Associate Artist. She is a member of the Glyndebourne Academy led by Mary King and a previous student at The Hammond, Chester where she trained as an actor. She regularly works with several important figures in opera and recitals, such as Sandra Ford, David Jones, Sonja Nerdrum, Florence Daguerreux and Patricia McMahon. She is a recipient of the RCS Scholar Award and placed highly commended in the prestigious 'Molly Robb Prize’ for Singers. Jodie originated the role of Nancy in the development of a new song cycle for three classical voices, Left Behind: Women of the War and is involved in the development of a new opera, Echo, as a vocal consultant to the composer, Filip Holacky.

On stage, Jodie has sung the roles of Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Christine (The Phantom of the Opera), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Hanna (The Merry Widow), Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Contessa (The Marriage of Figaro).

In recital, Jodie has performed works by Greig, Dvorak, Schumann, Berg, and Strauss, as well as songs and arias by Puccini, Heggie, Adamo, Bernstein and Britten.

Future engagements include Mimi (La Boheme) for London Town Opera, the title role in Echo a new opera by Czech composer Filip Holacky (Brno, Czech Republic), the original cast recording of Left Behind: Women of the War and the LTO recital series in London.

Tutoring Experience:

I have previously taught 1 to 1 priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons in London, Berkshire & Glasgow. Many of my students have taken ABRSM and LCM exams with 100% pass rate. I have coached students for college entrance auditions with 100% success rate and I am also singing teacher for the Saturday school at Newbury Stagecoach.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music tuition is to keep all parties interested at all times. Prepare repertoire whilst continually developing a sound technique through vocal/piano exercises. Preparing for an exam can become tiring especially for young students. This is why I encourage the student to pick their own repertoire, with my guidance, so that they can be fully involved in their journey.
