Malaysian- born Chinese vocalist, Joyee (Soprano) began her singing journey by joining competitions in her hometown of Sarawak at the age of 3, Borneo including joining her secondary school choir group that was the National champion in the year 2005 and 2007. She started her vocal training in 2012 and has completed her Bachelor study in UCSI University, Malaysia - majoring in Classical Voice under the tutelage of Mr. Terence Au. Joyee holds an ALCM in Pianoforte performance and distinction in her ATCL Vocal Examination in the year 2015. She performed in opera scenes and concerts where her roles include: First Witch (Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell), Zerlina (Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Papagena and 1st Knabe (Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart), Despina (Così fan tutte by W.A. Mozart) and Gabrielle (La Vie Parisienne by Jacques Offenbach).
She joined the UCSI Concert Choir in 2012 and won Gold medal at the 11th China International Choral Festival. In her journey into music, she was the soprano section leader in secondary school choir, university Concert Choir, Junior Choir, Mixed Choir and Women’s Choir as an active choir member, she joined Kuala Lumpur Young Singers (KLYS) and Kuala Lumpur Vocal Ensemble (KLVE) under Young Choral Academy during her internship. She also accompanied on the piano for teachers, students, and friends during competitions, examinations and church music conferences. Joyee volunteered as Music History tutor and guest singer in different chamber music ensembles for 8 semesters in UCSI. The most recent ensemble was Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer, Op.52. In July 2014 she was invited to sing in the Asia Pacific Youth Choir (APYC) in Seoul, Korea.
Joyee participated in the Pro Musica Vocal Workshop in 2013, which was held in Penang conducted by renowned Soprano, Loh Siew Tuan. She worked with vocal coaches – Graham Johnson, Hein Boterberg, Michael Hampton, Inge Spinette and also stage director Benoir de Leersnyder. She also attended vocal Masterclass conducted by Loh Siew Tuan in 2013 and joined the Winter Journey International Opera Workshop, which was held (every year in January) in Hua Hin, Bangkok from 2014- 2016. She was invited to sing the role of Valencienne in the complete operetta of The Merry Widow in Hua Hin and Bangkok City. Joyee was awarded The Best Participant in the workshop and won the Championship in ladies’ category in The 40th National Classical Singing Competition, which was held in Melacca, Malaysia. She also joined World Youth Choir 2016 as Soprano 1 in Germany (touring Weikersheim, Mainz, Cochem, Brussels, Swtizerland, Bonn, and Wolfenbüttel) on 23 July – 1 August 2016.
Joyee is RCM scholar supported by a Neville Wathen Award and a Helen Marjorie Tonks Award in Master of Performance in Vocal Performance studying under a renowned soprano- Janis Kelly. She worked with vocal and opera coaches including Christopher Glynn, Peter Selwyn, Christopher Middleton, David Harper, Marc Verter, Caroline Dowdle, Philip Headlamp, Alexander Crowe, Stuart Wild, Andrew Robinson and Simon Lepper during her study in London. Recently Joyee has been awarded as one of the commended singers in Royal College of Music Lieder Competition. RCM Opera Scenes roles including Patience in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience, Carolina in Cimarosa's Il Matrimony Segreto and Almirena in Handel's opera, Rinaldo.
Coming recording including a debut with Joe Parks, Royal College of Music composer on contemporary Latin Chants as well as orchestrated Burung Kakak Tua (Malay Folk tune) with How Much is That Doggie in the Window (American Folk tune). A concert will also be held in London this coming June to showcase Joe's composition.
Joyee has very strong passion in classical singing in both opera and songs performance, as she loves to work with people. She sees music as a tool to build the society and serve people who need to find joy and rest in music in deeper level. She wishes to reach out to the disadvantaged groups (especially children) and give education so that they could enjoy music as much as she does. Currently Joyee is teaching piano and singing at New London Performing Arts Centre.

Some songs are provided and students are encouraged to have their own music (I will help if they couldn't find one)
