Personal Description:

Hi! I am a trombone player and music/brass teacher. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019. I started teaching brass and general musicianship in 2016 and since then I have taught children, teenagers and adults in different environments: Schools, audition and exam preparation, music workshops and private lessons.

From my career as a musician, I would probably highlight my soloist concert with RCS Wind Orchestra, my participation on the Apprenticeship Scheme with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and lastly, the recent premiere on BBC Radio Scotland of 'Ebb & Flow', a piece for solo trombone, which was composed for me as part of a Nevis Ensemble project. In addition, I have been awarded with 2 ensemble prizes: David James Brass Prize with Spitha Brass Quintet (2017) and Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music with Clydeslide trombone quartet (2017).

Tutoring Approach:

Each student is different and therefore I always try to adapt my lessons to each student's needs, making use of all the different resources available (online and offline) to make lessons dynamic and fun for the students. As a response to the situation during the pandemic I had to learn to deliver online lessons and I had to adapt the resources and the way of teaching music, by also using audio recordings and videos more often.

I have taught private students with different goals from complete beginners who want to start learning an instrument, school pupils who want help passing their SQA or ABRSM exams or others who were preparing for a music audition in college or conservatoire. After attending my lessons, the students not only passed their SQA and ABRSM exams, but they also gained places at National Orchestra for All.
