Information About Jen - Menai Bridge teacher - (2 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Jen:
I can offer an alternative experience that is both fun and engaging for your child (or yourself!)
I am different and treat all my students as their unique selves, as I strive to make music fun for all, no matter the level of ability!
During lockdown I have been teaching online and performing online as a soloist in various Facebook groups, and Zoom.
Outside of "Covid Times", I was more recently the accompanist for Cor Alaw'r Fenai in Menai Bridge. Within in the last few years or so I have accompanied Bangor University's Music Society Choir, and played a regular slot at Penrhyn Castle. I also do community work regularly.
I graduated from Bangor University with a BMus (hons) in 2007, and gained an MA degree in 2010, I have been having music lessons of some sort since the age of 4. (Having learnt to read music from age 3 and picking up the recorder, I then went on to have Violin lessons from age 4 and then Piano from age 7.)
I am classically trained, but like a broad range of different musical genres!
I have been in the private tutoring field formally for just over 6 years.
I am currently teaching a varied range of students - starting from children of both primary and secondary school age, who hope to progress through the ABRSM grade system over the years. I teach a few more serious University student-aged people who are hoping to enhance their job prospects in the music industry.
I also teach a selection of older learners on a both casual and more formal basis.
To date, I also have 100% pass rate record for ABRSM exams, including distinctions and merits.
I take a completely tailored approach to teaching. Whether you are starting from the beginning and wish to make your way up the ladder, are starting again after a break; whether you'd like to pick up a few tips and basic knowledge in preparing to become a classroom music teacher, or you just want to learn for the pure fun of it!
I am willing to accept all ages, but generally recommend that pupils for piano start at age 7 (if younger, then they need to have hands large enough to fit the keys of the piano adequately) Parents of younger children are welcome to enquire.
Older learners are also very welcome- if you've stopped and wish to restart, or you wish you'd learnt when you were younger, feel free to enquire! My youngest student to date was 5 years old when they started.
I cater for all levels, from beginner to advanced.
You can even come just for Theory lessons! If you've forgotten something you've learnt previously, or you just want to learn how to read music generally, Up to Grade 5 Only.
Lessons can be taken in either 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions, and can also be block booked in advance. (Per half term for school age, and blocks of 5 or 10, or even monthly for adults) - If child is younger than 7 I also offer 20 minute slots.
I am based near Menai Bridge, and am currently just teaching privately from my house.
* Not listed: I also do accompaniment for exams (any board) rate depends on grade. Enquire separately*
