Personal Description:
I'm a qualified educator (PGCE Popular Music Performance form UEL) and FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy) with extensive industry experience: I've done live shows and studio recording sessions with Roger Waters, Mike Oldfield, Scott Walker, Suede, Westernhagen and many more. I have my own studio and extensive real-world sessions to use as teaching materials.
Tutoring Experience:
I was one of the original tutors at the Guitar Institute from the late 1980s through to the mid-90s, I then taught live performance and production at Guitar-X and became a senior lecturer and course-swriter at degree level at ICMP (2011-2016)
Tutoring Approach:
I help students develop their own musicality by instilling a thorough grounding in fretboard skills combined with ear-training, placing the emphasis on practical applications of music theory rather than theory for its own sake.
