Information About Alison Jane - Reading teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Alison Jane:
I have an MA in Music Education. I am excited about seeing people get engaged with playing because playing has brought me so much pleasure in my life. And so many opportunities. I am a mother of four and (groovy) grandmother of seven. I am kind and patient but believe in maintaining high expectations and fostering these in my pupils.
I have been teaching for 30+ years both privately and in schools. I have also taught adults and particularly enjoy this. I have guided hundreds of children, young people and adults through the ABRSM exams with 100% success. I have taught children with learning difficulties.
I believe that learning is most successful when there is a meaningful relationship between pupil and teacher, based on trust, aspiration, humour, personal interest.
A practice regime that is doable and realistic is important. In the case of children, this requires parents to support the pupil - not musically, but emotionally and intellectually - by helping to integrate playing at home between the lessons into the weekly timetable of homework/clubs etc. and by taking an encouraging approach to and interest in the child/young person's efforts to learn.
I am sensitive to different learning styIes and varying levels of confidence. I believe that lessons should be more than just fun - there needs to be fulfillment as well. I vary my approach according to intuition.
