Information About James - Bristol teacher
I have been studying the piano for over 20 years. I have a classical background, and merited Grade 8 thirteen years ago and Grade 8 theory twelve years ago. Since then I have been experimenting with popular music styles such as improvisatory jazz piano, blues piano, stride piano and ragtime. I am very interested in performing, organising and composing for various
ensemble groups, and researching and analysing music.
I am an experienced piano teacher, and have taught students in Bristol and Leeds University. Through playing with other experienced musicians I have a good rapport with pupils, and believe that communication is a vital tool when learning how to play the piano.
I take a very practical approach to teaching, which involves jamming sessions, playing from live audio, playing from skeleton jazz scores and learning traditional music scores. If you are looking to play improvisatory jazz/blues piano amoungst other styles, learn
jazz theory practically, or just learn the basics of piano perfomance, now you have the chance!
I teach at an affordable price, providing one on one tutoring privately
