Playing the guitar is an absolute passion for me and is something that I have been studying for 12+ years.
I picked up the guitar at age 11, heavily influenced by classic Rock bands such as AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.
At age 18, I took my studying further by completing a 2 year Guitar Performance Degree at the Academy of Contemporary Music. This was a great learning curve for me, and open my eyes to many different styles and techniques.
Currently I am based in South East London, where I play in different function bands and theatre productions, and also perform studio work.
I have had 5+ years working with Open2Music; Open2Music provide teaching services to schools based around Surrey, from which I have taught children that range from 5-13. I have also taught privately to adults.
My approach to teaching involves determining where the student is in terms of level, and finding out the objective and needs; some students may want to casually learn the instrument as a hobby, whereas others may consider it a career choice. With both options, I will cater to the students needs. My teaching involves breaking down techniques, looking into different styles, music theory etc. I accompany this with printable hand out sheets and backing tracks.
