Personal Description:

Hi, my name's Jack and I'm a guitar teacher based in Bradley Stoke.

I am an easy guy to get along with and want to pass my knowledge on to others who want to learn the instrument, with over 10 years experience of playing my instrument in both formal and informal situations.

I have been playing guitar since 2008. Since starting to learn I have played in a few rock bands (but have dabbled in other genres as well such as blues and metal) in Malvern, getting gigs all over Worcestershire, as well as a few in Birmingham and playing in regular ensembles during my time at Plymouth University as well as here in Bristol.

I have a Ba(hons) degree in Music from Plymouth University - achieving a 2:1 - after completing an A level and GCSE in music.

Tutoring Experience:

Since 2016, I have been teaching students privately - currently with two on my roster in Bristol. As well as working within a variety of schools, from early Primary age up to year 11 secondary school ages.

While teaching in schools in Plymouth since the start of 2015, I have: led a guitar workshop at one local Primary school; taught peripatetically in a Secondary school as well as helping as a TA in another local secondary school where I help children with both guitar playing and the theory behind what they're learning.

I also have experience leading band development sessions, a guitar orchestra as well as teaching a wide range of ages in schools through working with Worcestershire Youth Music.

Through working in bands as well, I've been able to impart my knowledge of some of the more detailed parts of music theory and guitar playing to other band members in order to push for music of real quality.
I have also spent the last year teaching guitar and workshops in both school and privately in and around Malvern, Worcestershire, doing much of the same as what I have done detailed above.

Tutoring Approach:

Lessons should be fun, as well as challenging, and I allow the student to learn what they want, at the speed they need, but reinforcing it with the theory behind it, as to improve their understanding and improve playing technique.

I have access to guitars and amps. I want to pass my passion for music onto others who share a love for the subject. I want to help you understand your favourite artists and to create your own unique style.

Lessons would last for an hour or so and would have to take place at your home or practise space as I am unable to accommodate myself. Depending on travelling distance, I may have to charge a little bit more for lessons

I also give lessons via skype, but I feel that it's more beneficial to have lessons face-to-face.
