Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Jack. I have been playing guitar since I was 7 when my dad taught me my first chords. I've since been in multiple bands of different styles (Rock, Metal, Big Band, Jazz, Acoustic/Singer Songwriter, Pop) and am now a secondary music teacher. At A-level I fell in love with music technology and ended up taking that as my degree, working on Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Rock, Fusion and Sound Art pieces as producer. I've had many students and one of my favourite things is to hear back from them about their first single launch or latest gig. Hopefully you can become one of them!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching guitar since 2011 and became a music teacher in a secondary school in 2020. Prior to this I had taken music lessons in that school with smaller groups while saving up to start studying for my PGCE. I have run clubs in schools, taught music to groups of SEN pupils, produce their first recordings and helped students get their releases on spotify.

Tutoring Approach:

In the 10+ years I've taught guitar I have taught a range of students and made bespoke courses for each based around their interests and inspiration. This will be a part of our first lesson together if you choose me so I can get to know you and make sure that what we learn is as relevant to your goals as possible.

My approach to music tuition is personal and relaxed. I want to create an environment where any choices (and mistakes) are welcome because if music that's where the most interesting developments are! I like to make my lessons are fun as possible and depending on the preference of the student I am able to be a coach for exams or a sounding board for guidance through their musical journey.
