I've been playing clarinet for most of my life and completed my grade 8 in 2014. Following this I was taught by a well renowned clarinet teacher, Sarah Masters, when I studied Music with Drama at the University of Huddersfield, where I learnt to really fine tune my technique. I learnt to apply further discipline when I was taught by Andrew McCullough, who relayed some of the methodology he had learned when studying in Vienna. I'm currently studying as an Actor Musician in my third year at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where I've had experience in incorporating my instruments within plays and musicals.
I've also had a lot of experience in bands and orchestras of all sizes and styles, and have a good understanding of how people prefer to learn, be it with notation or by ear.
I've taught students of various standards over the years and have become well versed in fine tuning technique. Through encouraging students to make good technique habitual, I'm able to help students achieve greater tone and musicality. I'm qualified to teach any standard and I'm efficient in how I plan lessons, adapting each lesson plan to help the student get the most out of their playing.
I teach classical clarinet and technique and I am happy to provide music/suggest music to buy for students unsure about how to get started. On the whole I'm flexible with how I teach and will help students set and achieve their goals.
