Personal Description:

Hello! I'm Izzie, a music teacher and graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music. I specialise in woodwind, piano and music theory tutoring. I love making music and believe that learning should be a fun and rewarding experience. Music has so many benefits and I love seeing students grow in confidence as well as ability. Adult learners are more than welcome - my motto is 'it's never too late to learn an instrument!'

Tutoring Experience:

I love working with all age-groups and abilities. I currently teach woodwind from Y2 upwards with Stockport Music Service. Privately, I have a number of adult learners as well as children and teenagers. I lead a range of music groups and workshops both for children and adult learners, and I have tutored younger students in music theory exams. I work as a youth leader on the National Citizenship Service programme for 16-17 year-olds, and I hold an up-to-date DBS certificate.

Tutoring Approach:

My first priority is that the student is actively involved and enthusiastic about their learning. Whether you are pursuing music as a hobby or a future career path, I use a range of lesson plans and approaches to suit your needs and interests. This might mean adapting a bit of your favourite film music, jamming along to a jazz record and learning to improvise 12-bar blues, or perfecting that wonderful Mozart.

For music theory students, I like to go beyond what is required of the ABRSM theory grades and teach useful skills you might need in the future, such as transposition, chord progressions and even a little bit of composition.

Do get in touch - I'd love to hear what you'd like to do, and shape your lessons around that!
